I’m Silvia Brown, a communication designer and graduate from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Design. I’m proud of being a CMU graduate, but I’ve also been lucky to have learned from the artists and professors at the Rhode Island School of Design and the Corcoran College of Art and Design. My aspiration is to ultimately become a creative director responsible for large projects, supervising other designers, and using a wide range of media and design techniques.

Coming to the United States from Bolivia at the age of four, I’ve worked really hard to take advantage of America’s opportunities. I’ve been fortunate to be able to travel to Europe, Egypt and Africa and bring a number of different cross-cultural perspectives to my work. I believe I have an East Coast work ethic, so you can always expect your projects to be completed on time, within budget and without attitude. I’ve worked freelance with a range of clients including non-profit services, music and video productions. My most satisfying moments as a designer are when I’m told that I’ve created a piece that truly tells the story the way it should be told. Be it a corporate brochure, poster, typography, photograph or personal portrait, it is always my primary goal to take all the pieces of the puzzle—budget, aesthetic sensibilities, timeline, etc.—– and fit them together into something that thrills my client.

I’ve been told that my forte lies in the finished production value of my work, whether it is calligraphy, typography, photography, digital pre-press and letter press. I’m currently living in New York, but am interested in joining a design firm where I can work with and learn from other talented designers. I’m enthusiastic about working with a team and am flexible about relocating. I look forward to hearing from you!
